WhoRunsNaija is a paid competitive business leaderboard. These Rules explain how businesses enter the leaderboard, how bids affect rankings, and the standards participants must follow.
1. Joining the Leaderboard
To participate, a business must have a valid WhoRunsNaija listing containing accurate information, including its business name, category, city or location, and website or social media profile.
WhoRunsNaija may reject, correct, merge, suspend, or remove duplicate, misleading, fraudulent, inappropriate, or unauthorized listings.
2. Business Categories
Businesses compete primarily against other businesses within their assigned category.
You must select the category that most reasonably represents the business. WhoRunsNaija may change a business's category when necessary to maintain fair and meaningful competition.
3. How Rankings Are Determined
Businesses are ranked according to their verified bid totals. A higher verified bid total generally results in a higher leaderboard position.
Only successfully verified payments count toward a business's bid total.
If two businesses have the same bid total, WhoRunsNaija may use an established tie-breaking method, including the order in which the totals were reached or another consistently applied system.
4. Moving Up the Leaderboard
WhoRunsNaija is designed so businesses can compete progressively for higher positions.
When applicable, a business may move ahead of the business immediately above it by placing a sufficient qualifying bid.
The required amount may depend on the selected business's current bid total and the bid total of the next-ranked competitor.
5. Minimum Bid Requirements
WhoRunsNaija may establish minimum bid amounts or minimum increments. The applicable amount will be determined by the ranking rules in effect when the bid is initiated.
A bid that does not meet the required amount may be rejected or may not produce the expected ranking movement.
6. Rankings Can Change During Payment
The leaderboard remains live while payments are being processed. Another participant may place a bid before your transaction is completed.
If rankings change while your payment is pending, the successfully verified amount may still be added to the selected business's bid total and its position recalculated using the current leaderboard.
Initiating a payment does not reserve a leaderboard position.
7. Payment Verification
A bid affects the leaderboard only after the payment has been successfully verified by WhoRunsNaija and/or its payment processor.
Pending, abandoned, declined, failed, cancelled, fraudulent, reversed, or otherwise unverified payments do not qualify as completed bids.
8. Successful Bids Are Generally Final
Once a verified bid has been applied to the leaderboard, it is generally non-refundable except where required by applicable law or where WhoRunsNaija determines that a refund is appropriate because of a duplicate payment, unauthorized transaction, technical error, or other exceptional circumstance.
Losing a leaderboard position because another participant subsequently places a qualifying bid is not, by itself, grounds for a refund.
9. Refunds, Reversals and Chargebacks
If a payment is refunded, reversed, charged back, cancelled after processing, or determined to be fraudulent, WhoRunsNaija may remove the associated amount from the business's bid total.
The leaderboard may then be recalculated to reflect the corrected total.
10. No Permanent Positions
No leaderboard position is permanent or guaranteed for any period of time.
A business may move down whenever another eligible business achieves a higher qualifying bid total or when a payment adjustment changes the rankings.
11. No Guaranteed Business Results
A leaderboard position provides visibility and competitive bragging rights, but WhoRunsNaija does not guarantee sales, customers, leads, website traffic, social media growth, publicity, investment, revenue, or any other business outcome.
12. Fair Play
Participants must compete honestly. The following conduct is prohibited:
- Using stolen, fraudulent, or unauthorized payment methods;
- Submitting false or intentionally misleading business information;
- Impersonating another business or person;
- Manipulating payment records or leaderboard data;
- Exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities to alter rankings;
- Attempting to bypass payment verification;
- Using automated systems to abuse bidding or disrupt the service;
- Creating deceptive duplicate listings to manipulate rankings; or
- Otherwise interfering with the integrity of the competition.
13. Fraud and Abuse
WhoRunsNaija may investigate suspicious activity and may temporarily hold, reverse, restrict, or remove ranking activity associated with suspected fraud, payment abuse, technical exploitation, or violations of these Rules.
Businesses or users engaged in repeated or serious abuse may be suspended or permanently removed from participation.
14. Business Information and Links
Participants are responsible for the accuracy of information submitted for their business listings.
Websites and social media profiles should represent the listed business and must not intentionally redirect users to deceptive, malicious, unlawful, or unrelated content.
15. Technical and Ranking Errors
WhoRunsNaija may correct rankings, bid totals, payment statuses, duplicate transactions, category assignments, or other information when a technical or administrative error is identified.
An incorrect position caused by an obvious technical, payment-processing, or database error does not create a permanent entitlement to that ranking.
16. Leaderboard Integrity
WhoRunsNaija reserves the right to take reasonable action necessary to preserve the integrity of the leaderboard, including reviewing suspicious transactions, correcting erroneous totals, removing fraudulent bids, and restricting abusive participants.
17. Changes to the Rules
WhoRunsNaija may update these Rules as the platform develops, including changes to minimum bids, ranking mechanics, categories, eligibility requirements, payment methods, and competition features.
Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date displayed on this page.
18. Terms and Privacy
Participation in WhoRunsNaija is also subject to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
If these Rules conflict with the Terms of Service on a legal or contractual matter, the Terms of Service will control.
